The New Moon this month is in Libra. When the Sun and Moon line up the Moon is dark from our perspective. This dark moon provides time to reflect, rest and set intentions for the new coming cycle.
Libra This New Moon will be in Libra, represented by the scales, she always seeks balance. She often puts more weight on the opinions of others than her own. The perfect compromise is sometimes illusive when harmony is the priority and her needs may fall lower than others, this can cause her to be indecisive.
Her desire for peaceful connection means she is considered to sign of relationships, ruler of the 7th house of marriage in astrology. Her energy creates harmonious connections wherever it can though, and Libras are often surrounded by friends and admirers.
Her scales also represent the scales of justice and in her quest for balance, equality and justice are important themes too.
Venus rules Libra, the planet of love beauty and attraction. She also rules Taurus where her love is focused on herself and surrounding herself with beautiful things. In Libra her love is expressed in relationship, and she attracts people.
Libra is not opposed to beautiful things though and if you know anyone with strong Taurus or Libra placements you probably know that they have a great sense of style and beautiful homes.
As an air sign our focus is mental, in Libra we experience the world on an intellectual level. Air signs draw us to pick up a new book, learn a new skill, have more conversations and exchange ideas with our community.
Venus rules this New Moon, and she is coming to the final degrees of Scorpio, approaching the south node, they will meet on 9th October in Sagittarius. this transit is likely to bring up themes from our past, in Scorpio Venus is a dark goddess but in Sagittarius she is fun and adventurous and wants to experience everything, this shift from one sign to another in the next few days could signify a shifting perception of the past or maybe an opportunity to re write past stories with the help of Venus as she shifts from fearless Scorpio to adventurous Sagittarius.
The Sun and Moon will also be conjunct Mars which means that Mars will be infusing this Moon with his warrior energy. However, Mars in Libra is far more gentle than usual, finding ways to resolve conflict with diplomacy and find more peaceful outcomes without compromising his boundaries.
We also see a Yod pointing to the New Moon, this is an aspect pattern formed when three celestial bodies form a thin triangle of two inconjunct and a sextile. In this case Uranus in Taurus forms a sextile to the asteroid Pallas Athene in Pisces and they are both inconjunct the New Moon. This shows a coming together of earth and spirit to help us reach new heights in justice and peace, it could be a really loaded aspect. Inspiration and wisdom and both working together to create this Libran new beginning.
This energy will be felt most strongly by people with planets in Libra, Capricorn, Aries, and Cancer.
New Moons create a space for intention setting and Libra reminds us to cultivate balance and harmony. As part of your intention setting make a list of all that you want to welcome into your life and opposite that write a list of the things that you will need to release to make space.
For every yes that we say there is always something that we will have to say no to and when we fully recognise the sacrifices that we will need to make to welcome our dreams, we can create a life of balance with only the intentions that we are truly committed to manifesting.
Maybe to feel more energised you will need to say no to those late nights? Maybe for your business to grow there is extra work to be done? Maybe your relationship goals are going to require forgiveness, compromise, or extra effort?
When you have used your list to set your intentions burn it to release them into the universe.
