This last week I finally left the house after what felt like such a long time at home after my son catching covid and then I caught it a few days later. Luckily he didn’t have any symptoms. I had one night of feeling very disorientated and nauseous, followed by a few weeks of just generally feeling under the weather with zero energy. I am still not quite back to normal as yet. Whilst it’s not been physically pleasant, it has given me some head space just to focus on getting better when I’d normally have quite a packed schedule.
So I was happy I was well enough this week to join this retreat organised by the brilliant Katy, founder of The Owl & The Apothecary who I’ve been working with this past year to deepen my connection to the Wheel of the year and learn more about seasonal living.
The retreat was based at 42 Acres– a beautiful rural location where there is a mix of different accommodations. We stayed in a cute cottage (pic above). From there we spent a day visiting Glastonbury and a morning at Stonehenge. We also did a walk through the ground of 42 Acres and spotted a few rabbits and deer.
For those who’ve been before, you’ll know it’s a cute little town with many little magical shops where you can buy all sorts of crystals, books, witchy goods, herbal tea mixtures, as well as have tarot and other medium readings. We visited The Chalice Well and drank some of the water and took time for reflection. We also managed to climb up to the Tor
On the last morning of the retreat, we set our alarms to 5:30am so we could be at Stonehenge to watch the sunrise at 7:22am. It really was stunning (and also very cold and icy!) And incredible also to see two guards there protecting the stones – I wonder what they think about standing outside all night!
We had booked the special early morning experiences which means you can actually go in and walk right next to the stones (without touching). There really was an incredible energy around them, and having a sense of the thousands of years of history right in that spot was really tangible. Our lovely guide told us all sorts of facts about them – the more I learn, the more fascinated I am!
In case you are close enough to London to visit, there is a brilliant exhibit coming up called ‘The World of Stonehenge‘ which covers history of Europe and Britain from 4000bc and why Stonehenge was built. Worth checking out if you’re also fascinated by the history and astrological connections!
Let me know if you’ve been to Glastonbury and/or Stonehenge. I’m sure this won’t be my last visit!
