My experience of Somatic Trauma Relief Therapy
When I first started working with a somatic therapist, I didn’t know what to expect. It felt strange at first—less like “therapy” and more like tuning into parts of myself I hadn’t fully paid attention to. We’d speak for about half an hour, then I’d get on the therapy bed and she’d do the physical work on my body that felt like a cross between Osteotherapy, massage, and trigger point release. It was often uncomfortable, but in a way that I knew it would bring relief.
